Print That Performs Under Studio Lighting

Film and TV print has one test: how it looks on camera, under professional lighting. Colour accuracy, surface finish, and material behaviour under studio conditions determine whether the print works on set — or holds up a shoot. TK Graphics understands scenic translights, colour temperature, material diffusion, and why a seam in the wrong place creates a continuity problem in post.

— Why Choose TK Graphics

Why Canadian Productions Choose TK Graphics

We Work On Production Schedules

Shoot dates don’t move. TK Graphics has been delivering print to Canadian productions for years — we know what ‘wrap on Friday’ means and produce to that standard.

16-Foot Seamless Prints

We print up to 16 feet wide in a single seamless piece — no continuity issues for most standard set dimensions. For wider pieces, seam placement is agreed with your art department before we go to press.

Colour Calibrated for Camera

As a 3M Gold Select Provider, we calibrate scenic translights to your backlight colour temperature and match backdrops to your reference — matte to cut hot spots, or as your DP specifies.

We Know the Production World

TK Graphics works with IATSE Local 891 productions and understands the union environment. We take files directly from your art department and work with your schedule — not against it.

How A Production Print Job Works

Film and TV productions often involve confidentiality agreements. Project details are shared with client permission only.

Quote & Scope

Contact us with your production dates, the pieces you need, sizes, and any reference images or style guides from your art department. If you are in pre-production and not yet at final dimensions, contact us early — we can hold a production slot and confirm specs as they are finalised.

File Submission

Submit your files from the art department — PDF, PSD, AI, or TIFF. Our prepress team reviews for resolution, colour profile, surface finish specification, and any notes from your DP or art director. We flag any file issues before production begins.

Colour & Material Confirmation

For scenic translights, we confirm backlight colour temperature and calibrate accordingly. For backdrops, we confirm surface finish and review colour against your reference. We do not proceed to production without confirmation from your art department.

Production

Your job goes to press. We print up to 16 feet wide seamless. For pieces wider than 16 feet, we produce matched panels and confirm seam placement with your art department before printing. Production timelines are confirmed at the quote stage and we communicate immediately if anything changes.

Delivery

We deliver to your studio, stage, or location shoot address. For time-sensitive deliveries, we will confirm the earliest possible delivery window at the quote stage. If you need on-site installation support, confirm this at the quote stage and we will advise on availability.

— Common Questions

Film & TV Production Print — FAQ

Yes. When quoting a scenic translight, supply us with your backlight source type and colour temperature (e.g., 5600K daylight, 3200K tungsten, or a specific LED panel spec). We calibrate the translight print to perform correctly under your specific light source. If you have a colour reference from your DP or gaffer, supply it with your file submission and we will match to it.

Yes. We regularly work with productions under non-disclosure agreements. We do not discuss, share, or reference client productions without explicit written permission. If your production requires an NDA before we can receive files or discuss project scope, contact us and we will arrange the appropriate documentation before any project details are shared.

Turnaround depends on the size, quantity, and complexity of your order. For straightforward single-piece backdrops or translights, we can often turn around a job in 2–3 business days from file approval. For large or complex pieces, we will confirm the achievable timeline at the quote stage. For urgent productions, call us directly at (604) 575-1812 with your shoot date and we will tell you what is possible.

Yes. We can receive files directly from your art department, with or without the production coordinator as an intermediary. Provide us with your art department contact’s name and email at the quote stage and we will coordinate directly with them for file submission, prepress review, and colour confirmation. We are accustomed to working within production department workflows.

TK Graphics prints up to 16 feet wide in a single seamless piece. For scenic backdrops and translights up to 16 feet in width, we can produce the entire piece without a join. For pieces wider than 16 feet, we produce precision-matched panels and confirm seam placement with your art department before printing — so the join falls at a point agreed with your production team, not wherever is convenient for us.
