— Our Approach
Practical Sustainability — What We Actually Do
Large format printing is a material-intensive business. Inks, substrates, and finished signage products all have an environmental footprint — and most of them end up in landfill when the project is over. TK Graphics is not going to claim otherwise. What we can do is offer alternatives where they are genuinely available, and provide a responsible end-of-life option for materials that would otherwise be discarded.
That is why we have partnered with West Coast Plastic Recycling to operate a free coroplast sign drop-off program at our Surrey facility, and why we offer eco-friendly ink and material options across a range of products. These are not marketing claims — they are operational programs that have been running for years. If you want to understand exactly what they cover and what they don’t, this page will tell you.
— Eco Print Options
Eco-Friendly Print Options
The following eco-friendly alternatives are available across our product range. Not every option is available for every product — we will advise on what is applicable to your specific job at the quote stage.
Latex Inks
Water-based latex inks produce no hazardous air pollutants and require no special ventilation. Lower VOC output than solvent-based inks. Suitable for indoor environments including healthcare and schools. These are best for indoor signage, retail graphics, wall murals, healthcare environments.
Eco-Solvent Inks
Lower solvent content than traditional solvent inks — reduced VOC emissions while maintaining outdoor durability. A practical middle-ground for outdoor applications where water-based inks are not suitable. These are best for outdoor banners, vehicle graphics, construction hoarding — where outdoor durability is required.
Recycled & Recyclable Substrates
Selected substrate options use recycled content or are manufactured for recyclability at end of life. Coroplast is fully recyclable through the TK Graphics recycling program. These are best for election signage, event signage, short-term retail — where end-of-life recycling is a procurement requirement.
Reusable Display Systems
SEG fabric displays, retractable banner systems, and tension fabric structures allow the graphic to be reprinted and the frame reused — significantly reducing material waste across multiple campaign cycles. These are best for trade show displays, retail seasonal updates, event backdrops — any application with recurring print needs.
Reduced Packaging
We consolidate packaging for large orders to reduce single-use protective materials. Custom crating for fragile or high-value print reduces damage and the need for reprints.Water-based latex inks produce no hazardous air pollutants and require no special ventilation. — Coroplast Recycling Program
The TK Graphics Coroplast Recycling Program
A free drop-off program in partnership with West Coast Plastic Recycling — turning used signs into new materials instead of landfill.
Coroplast is one of the most widely used large format print substrates in BC — and one of the hardest to dispose of responsibly. TK Graphics has partnered with West Coast Plastic Recycling to offer a free coroplast sign drop-off program at our Surrey facility, where signs are processed into plastic pellets used to produce new products.
Remove Grommets
Before dropping off your coroplast signs, remove all grommets from the edges. Grommets cannot be processed through the recycling stream. Signs of any size are accepted.
Drop Off at TK Graphics
Bring your used coroplast signs to our facility at 17667 65A Ave, Surrey, BC. Signs must have less than 5% contamination — minimal tape, stickers, or soiling only.
We Handle the Rest
We transfer your signs to West Coast Plastic Recycling, where they are pelletized and sold to manufacturers for use in new products. You receive confirmation that your signs have been responsibly disposed of.
— Where It Goes
What Happens To The Plastic?
Pelletized plastic from the recycling process is sold to manufacturers who use it to produce new plastic products — decking materials, recycled bags, irrigation pipes, plant pots, and park benches.
The coroplast that previously carried an election candidate’s face or a real estate agent’s listing gets a second life as something functional and durable.
Drop-Off Requirements
- Remove all grommets before drop-off
- Any size accepted — lawn signs to large boards
- Less than 5% contamination — minimal tape or soiling
- Completely free — no charge to drop off

Companies with ESG reporting requirements or sustainability commitments who need to demonstrate responsible disposal of print materials in their supply chain.
Schools, hospitals, and healthcare spaces with strict VOC and air quality requirements for any print materials used indoors — where latex ink options are a procurement necessity, not a preference.
Development companies with LEED certification targets or sustainability reporting who need a print partner that can document responsible material handling across hoarding and signage programs.
— Common Questions
Eco Print & Recycling — Common Questions
Is the coroplast recycling program free?
Yes. Dropping off your used coroplast signs at TK Graphics is free of charge. Remove the grommets before drop-off and ensure the signs have less than 5% contamination (tape, significant soiling, or attached materials). We transfer the signs to West Coast Plastic Recycling at no cost to you.
What types of coroplast signs can be dropped off?
We accept coroplast signs of any size — election lawn signs, event directional signage, real estate signs, construction wayfinding, and general-purpose coroplast board. Signs must have grommets removed and less than 5% contamination. We do not accept coroplast with significant adhesive, paint, or non-plastic attachments that would contaminate the recycling stream.
Do you recycle other large format print materials besides coroplast?
Currently, our recycling program is specifically for coroplast through the West Coast Plastic Recycling partnership. We are working to expand responsible end-of-life options for other substrates. If you have a specific material you need to dispose of responsibly, contact us and we will advise on what options are available.
Are eco-friendly ink options available on all products?
Eco-friendly ink options are available across a wide range of our products — including indoor signage, retail graphics, wall murals, and applications where latex or eco-solvent inks are suitable. However, not every ink type is appropriate for every substrate or outdoor durability requirement. When requesting a quote, mention your eco preference and we will advise on what is available for your specific product.
Can TK Graphics provide documentation of responsible material disposal for our sustainability reporting?
Yes. If you need documentation of coroplast sign disposal for sustainability reporting, ESG documentation, or LEED certification purposes, contact us when you drop off your signs and we will provide written confirmation of the disposal process and our partnership with West Coast Plastic Recycling.
